REVERSE ENGINEERING

Using a mathematic model (CAD3D) to reproduce the geometry of the elements made by hand is an essential stage in modern manufacturing structures in terms of prototyping as well as developing and manufacturing.

Reverse engineering process involves 2 phases:

  • measuring the piece using 3D measuring systems. This operation can be carried out at Spring or in the client’s premises;
  • turning into 3D mathematical form the measured data acquired and re-constructing a functional model.

Spring currently offers a Reverse Engineering process with the following technical features:

  • Laser Scanner NIKON ModelMaker MMCx80
  • Articulated Arm MCAx25+
  • Working volume 2.5 m (8.2 ft)
  • Laser precision: ± 62µm (0.0024”)

The applications of this process are on the increase. Spring is therefore upgrading its equipment, in order to provide Clients with a more complete and performing service.

Using primary CAD systems like Unigraphics and Pro / Engineer for turning into mathematical form the measured data through scanner, makes it possible to construct 3D mathematic models with A class surfaces.
